Troops kill 2 suicide bombers, lose 1 soldier in terrorist attack

A female suicide bomber who attempted to attack the military location in Yamtake in Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State was on Friday night taken out by a soldier on guard duty.

A statement issued by the Acting Director of Army Public Relations, Col Sani Usman said that three other terrorists who accompanied the suicide bomber on the mission were also killed while a soldier paid the ultimate price in the encounter.

"Yesterday at about 9.45pm a suspects female suicide bomber attempted to enter the military location in Yamtake, Gwoza Local Government Area, Borno State but a vigilant sentry on duty gunned her down and she died instantly. The failed suicide bombing attack was followed up with futile probing attack by terrorists which was decisively dealt with by the troops.

"The troops killed all the 4 attackers including 2 suicide bombers and recovered 2 AK-47, 3 Magazines, 109 rounds of 7.62mm (Special), 1 Torchlight, 1 Water bottle, 3 Magazine carrier, 1 Illuminator pyrotecnic and some quantity of drugs. Unfortunately, we lost a soldier in the process."

FG employs 200,000 graduates on N30,000 monthly salary

The Federal Government has confirmed the employment of 200,000 graduates as the first batch of its Volunteer Job Program which is expected to commence in two weeks.

The new recruits whose employment will last only two years will be deployed across the country as teachers and agricultural extension workers.

The Senior Special Assistant to the Vice President on Media and Publicity, Mr Laolu Akande said at a workshop organized by the VP's office in Abuja on Friday that out of the fresh employees, 150,000 would work as teachers while the remaining 50,000 would serve as extension workers.

He disclosed that each of the employees is to receive a monthly salary of N30,000.

N50M ONSA receipt: EFCC releases Abati on bail. .

A former Special Adviser to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan on Media and Publicity, Dr. Reuben Abati was on Friday night released on bail by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.

The former presidential spokesman was arrested last week following an allegation that he received N50m from the Office of the National Security Adviser for unspecified reasons.

Abati was said to have surrendered his international passport to the anti graft agency as part of the conditions for his bail.

N2.2b fraud: FG drags Supreme Court registra, 2 others to court

The Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, SAN, has filed criminal charges against the Chief Registrar of the Supreme Court, Mr. Saleh Gambo, the Assistant Director of Finance, Rilwanu Lawal, and the Deputy Director of Finance, Sharif Abdulrahman at a High Court in Abuja.

The accused persons will be defending themselves against a nine-count charge marked CR/13/16 and dated November 3, which the Attorney General of the Federation filed pursuant to sections 104 and 379 of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act, 2015.

The charges read as follows:
“That you Ahmed Gambo Saleh, Muhammed Abdulrahman Sharif, and Rilwanu Lawal, are charged with the following offences:
Count One
Statement of Offence:
Conspiracy, contrary to Section 96 of the Penal Code Act CAP 532 LFN (Abuja) 2004 punishable under Section 97 of the same Act.
Particulars Of Offence:
Ahmed Gambo Saleh “M” Muhammed Abdulrahman Sharif ‘M’ and Rilwanu Lawal ‘M’, all of Supreme Court of Nigeria between 2009 and 2016 did agree to do an illegal act to wit: diverted the total sum of N2.2 billion belonging to the Supreme Court of Nigeria into personal bank accounts domiciled at United Bank For Africa PLC a/c no 2027642863, and you thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 96 of the Penal Code Act and punishable under Section 97 of the Penal Code Act Cap 532 LFN (Abuja) 2004.

Criminal Breach of Trust contrary to Section 315 of the Penal Code Act Cap 532 LFN (Abuja) 2004 and punishable under the same Act.

Limited, a private contractor who provided services to the Supreme Court of Nigeria and thereby committed an offence contrary to section 10(a) (i) of the Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Act 2000 and punishable under the same section of the Act.
