The Federal Capital Territory, FCT Police Command has arrested one Abubakar Umar of Daki Biu, Jabi, for alleged car snatching.

The command’s spokesman, ASP Anjuguri Manzah said in a statement on Sunday that the suspect was arrested during a stop and search operation conducted by the police at Dikwa, the boundary town between Abuja and Niger State.

The car was reportedly snatched at gun point at Gosa, near Lugbe in Abuja.

The police spokesman said that the suspect's accomplice escaped from the car when he sighted the policemen on duty.

Meanwhile, the FCT Commissioner of Police, CP Muhammad Mustafa, has ordered the transfer of the suspect and exhibit from Zuba Police Division to the Command Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, CIID, Abuja for further investigation.

Manzah hoped that the transfer of the suspect would lead to the arrest of other members of the gang who are now at large, adding that they would be charged to court after investigation.

“The suspect in police custody has been cooperating with the Team of Police detectives in the ongoing investigation.

“He will be charged to court on conclusion of investigation.
