How Kaduna Doctor Lost His Job For Insulting Governor

In his second week as governor of Kaduna State, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai went to a government-owned hospital in the early hours of the morning, disguised as someone who had brought a patient in critical condition.

The nurses were sleeping and the doctor on duty was absent. He was soundly sleeping in his home. After much resistance, the nurses reluctantly gave the doctor's phone number to El-Rufai whom they didn't realize was the state governor.

Governor El-Rufai put a call through to the doctor but got insulted by the doctor who didn't bother to come to attend to the supposed patient. A fuming El-Rufai left the hospital disappointed.

The offending doctor went to work the next day only to find out that the person he insulted the previous day was the state governor. By then, it was too late to make amends as the governor had already approved his dismissal from the job.

Happy Days For Abuja Police As Enforcement Of Ban On Unpainted Taxis Begins

The past few weeks have seen the police in Abuja doing brisk business arresting operators of unregistered cabs in the city.

To fight the rising wave of one chance crime in the city, the Inspector General of Police, Mr Solomon Arase had recently issued an order for the enforcement of the ban on the operations of unlicensed taxi cabs.

Following this directive, the police now routinely arrest those who use cars hitherto registered for private use for carrying passengers. They are usually made to part with huge sums of money before being let go.

Julius Berger roundabout appears to be one of the favorite hunting grounds for the police. A lot of taxi cabs, licensed and unlicensed converge there every day to pick passengers to various parts of the city.

As nightfall approaches, the police would descend on the place and arrest as many of the unlicensed cabs as possible. They are taken to the police station nearby, where their tires are immediately deflated.

Then the extortion begins. You are told how much to pay, failing which your car would be handed over to the Department of Road Services popularly known as VIO the next day. You are told that once in the custody of the VIO, your car would be licensed and painted in official taxi color after which you would be compelled to pick the bill before it is released to you.

As you realize you don't want your car painted in taxi colors against your will, you are forced to beg the police for mercy. That is when the extortion begins.

A source who recently fell victim to this kind of extortion narrated his ordeal to Abujacitynews.

According to him, the police arrested him while picking passengers at Julius Berger roundabout in his private car. He was taken to the nearby police station where his tires were quickly deflated.

His plea that he was just looking for a little money to buy bread for the kids fell on deaf ears. He was asked to pay a bribe of eighty thousand naira if he wanted to go home with his car that night.

When it became obvious that he could not afford eighty thousand, they brought their demand down to fifty thousand.
When that too wasn't forthcoming, they came down to thirty thousand.

The man said he called his wife and neighbors but by midnight, all they could raise was fifteen thousand naira. By this time, it was clear that he couldn't do more than 15k.

So, where was he to go from there? Well, "luckily" for him, the officers of the law decided to accept what he had and let him go with his car.

Shocker! Man Eats Daughters' Menstrual Blood In Abuja

What interest has a father in his daughter's menstrual pad? A father in Dutsen Alhaji, Abuja seems to have found a special use for his two teenage daughters' monthly flow.

Two teenage girls recently cried out against their father's constant demand for their used menstrual pads.

According to the two sisters aged 13 and 15, their father monitors their menstruation periods during which he demands the used pads from them. They alleged that he usually puts them in a polythene bag which he hides somewhere in the house.

Responding to questions by interrogators, the father of two denied having any ulterior motives for collecting his daughters' used menstrual pads. He said that since his estranged wife left the home, he had been raising the girls alone.

He said that he was only being a good father by monitoring the girls menstrual cycles to limit their chances of bringing home unwanted pregnancy. He added that he planned to let his daughters dispose of their menstrual pads by themselves when they come of age.

However, one of the girls said she became suspicious when she saw her father burning the used pads at night. She said she watched patiently as he carefully scooped the dust from the burnt menstrual pads into a small polythene bag.

The teen girls became horrified the next morning when they saw their father pouring a powdery substance from a polythene bag into his pap. They watched in horror as he stirred the mixture and began to drink.

Then the realization that their father could have been using their menstrual flow for diabolical activities drove them to raise the alarm.

Although the man said he now suspects that his daughters have become mentally unstable, investigation into the matter is continuing.

The anti corruption agencies have been working with renewed vigor since the coming to power of President Muhammadu Buhari.

Eagles Walk Tight Rope As Enyeama Pulls Out Of Tanzania Match

Nigeria's chances of winning Saturday's Gabon 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier in Dar es Salaam may have been compromised as safe hands Vincent Enyeama has withdrawn from the encounter.

Coach Sunday Oliseh who confessed that Enyeama's decision has put him in a tight corner told a press conference that the Lille goalkeeper asked to be withdrawn from the team.

It is being speculated in sports circles that Enyeama's withdrawal is the result of his bickering with Nigerian Football Federation, NFF officials over the use of unsafe venues in the North of the country.

Meanwhile, Enyeama's absence is Wolves goalkeeper Carl Ikeme's chance to make his debut for Nigeria on Saturday afternoon.
