Protesting University of Abuja students block highway over killing of colleague

The dual carriage way bypassing the University of Abuja permanent site was on Monday rendered impassable by students protesting the killing of a 200 level History student who was fleeing from armed robbers.

The victim, Simi Love was said to have been knocked down by a vehicle opposite the University of Abuja gate while trying to escape an armed robbery attack.

The students lamented the incessant armed robbery attacks which they have been subjected to over time as well as the fact that the student died because of inadequate medical facilities at the university's clinic.

A lot of vehicles leaving Abuja for the southern part of the country were seen diverting to the Kuje axis on Monday morning, thus creating a heavy traffic snarl in the area.
