Train splits truck into two at railway crossing in Kaduna (photo)

A Lagos-bound train on Wednesday rammed into a sugarcane laden articulated truck at the Kawo railway crossing in Kaduna, splitting it into two halves.

The Kaduna State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, Mr. Francis Udoma, told the News Agency of Nigeria, that no life was lost in the accident which occurred around 3 a.m.,

Udoma said that the train ran into the truck belonging to W. A. Group of Companies when the driver insisted on crossing the railway line even with the train's horns blaring.

Blaming the truck driver for the accident, he said ; “It could be that the driver had problem hearing, because trains normally will blare their horns, but this driver, even with the horn decided to cross.

“This is abnormal. Nobody with normal hearing sense would take such a risk."
