We Have Enough Evidence To Nail Saraki - FG

The Federal Government on Friday told the Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja that it has enough evidence to prove that Senator Bukola Saraki acquired many assets beyond his legitimate income while serving as a public officer.

Prosecution counsel, Mr Rotimi Jacobs also told the Court of Appeal that the prosecution has five witnesses lined up against the Senate President who are willing and ready to testify and tender evidence against Saraki before the Code of Conduct Tribunal on October 21.

Vanguard reports that one of those lined up to testify against Saraki is the former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory and serving governor of Kaduna State, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai.

Gov El-Rufai is expected to testify that he personally sold one of the houses which Saraki acquired in Abuja and allegedly failed to declare as one of the properties he bought while still serving as governor of Kwara State.

Rotimi Jacobs also told the appellate court that the prosecution has already furnished Saraki with proofs of the evidences against him including copies of assets declaration forms that he submitted to the Code of Conduct Bureau at different times.

He therefore urged the court to dismiss Saraki's appeal and order him to go to the Code of Conduct Tribunal and clear his name.

The Senate President is challenging the legal propriety of charges preferred against him by the Federal Government at the Code of Conduct Tribunal.

The Court of Appeal is expected to deliver judgment on Saraki's appeal on Monday the 19th of October 2015.
