Boko Haram : Troops Get 1000 Bags Of Rice From Ebonyi Govt

The government of Ebonyi State has made a donation of one thousand bags of rice to Nigerian troops involved in counter insurgency operations in the Northeast.

The donation was presented by Ebonyi State Deputy Governor, Mr Kelechi Igwe at the parade ground of Mogadishu Cantonment, Abuja.

Igwe said that the donation was to demonstrate Ebonyi State's support for the military's counter-insurgency operations and also to encourage the front line troops fighting in the Northeast.

He said that the task of defeating Boko Haram insurgents required the support of all Nigerians and should not be left for the military alone.

His words ;
“This donation is also prompted by the fact that the burden of defeating terrorism had for long been borne by the affected states and the Federal Government alone.

“We are aware of the efforts of the Federal Government in this regard and the sacrifices of our soldiers in the field.

“We are confident that this donation will improve the well-being of our troops as they engage the insurgents in the North East."

He assured the Armed Forces of Ebonyi State Government's support in their efforts to end insurgency in the country.

The donation was received by
the Chief of Logistics at the Army Headquarters, Maj. Gen. Ademoh Salihu, who thanked Ebonyi State Government for the show of solidarity and support for the military.

He said ;
“I am glad to note that the government and people of Ebonyi appreciate the importance of security to national development and the sacrifice of troops in keeping Nigeria’s unity.

“We are grateful and we appreciate the renewed relationship between the army and the state government."

According to News Agency of Nigeria, the state governor had during an earlier visit to the Army Headquarters promised to support the troops fighting in the Northeast.
