Thugs Attack Senate President At Sallah Prayer Ground

News Agency of Nigeria reports that thugs who disguised as worshippers disrupted Eid-el-Kabir prayers in Ilorin on Thursday by pelting Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki with stones and sachets of water.

The ensuing melee led to the Emir of Ilorin abandoning his annual message while the Imam also could not deliver his sermon.

According to NAN, Saraki's security details were forced to fire shots in the air and deploy tear gas, causing worshippers to scatter in different directions.

Kwara State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Ajayi Okasanmi told newsmen that the trouble was started by hoodlums who wanted to extort Sallah gifts from the Senate President.

He added that arrests have already been made.
