Floods Wash Away Fish Farms In Abuja

Last week was one of painful losses for fish farmers in Dutsen Alhaji in Bwari Local Council of Abuja. Their farms were swept away by floods resulting from two days of massive rainfall.

Daily Trust reports that the farmers were caught unawares because of the irregular pattern of rainfall this season. The most painful thing to the farmers is that most of the fishes had reached maturity and were ready for harvest.

Alhaji B. S. Abubakar who lost over 90 %of his stock lamented ;

“I had already negotiated with a buyer who even went to the farm to assess the fishes a day before the disaster happened, only for me to wake up in the morning with the sad news of what happened the previous night. "
