Boko Haram Landmines Kill Two, Injure Two Nigerian Soldiers

Two Nigerian soldiers lost their lives on Friday when they stepped on a landmine as their team advanced through a Boko Haram stronghold.

According to Army spokesman, Col Sani Usman, two other troops were also critically injured in the incident. The incident happened as troops of the 5 Brigade Explosives Ordinance Division, EOD, ran into landmines as they advanced towards Dikwa in Marte local government area of Borno State.

The troops also lost a Mowag armored personnel carrier at the location. The fallen soldiers were quickly evacuated while the injured were taken to the military hospital for treatment.

The Army spokesman said that the troops were not deterred by the loss as they continued their advance, chasing the terrorists into their enclaves in the Sambisa forest.
