Jonathan's Ministers At The Heart Of Oil Theft - Buhari

Some former ministers and top officials in the Goodluck Jonathan administration may be heading to jail in the near future as President Muhammadu Buhari has disclosed that he has started collating documents which show that those officials were involved in oil theft.

The former ministers are alleged to have opened several foreign accounts for the purpose of laundering the proceeds of stolen oil. The President vowed to prosecute anybody indicted of oil theft and ensure the repatriation of the money from their fraudulent activities.

Speaking at a meeting with Nigerians in Diaspora at the Nigerian embassy in Washington DC, President Buhari said that documents at his disposal showed that "some former ministers were selling about one million barrels per day."

He vowed to recover the money made from such illegal sales.
"I assure you that we will trace and repatriate such money and use the documents to prosecute them. A lot of damage has been done to the integrity of Nigeria with individuals and institutions already compromised. "
