Buhari in closed door meeting with service chiefs

President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday had a closed door meeting with security chiefs at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

In attendance at the meeting which was intended to review the security situation in the country were the Minister of Defence, Mansur Dan-Ali, National Security Adviser, Babagana Monguno, Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Gabriel Olonisakin, Chief of Army Staff, Lt-Gen.Tukur Buratai, Chief of Naval Staff, Rear Admiral Ibok Ekwe Ibas and Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshall Abubakar Sadiq.

Also in attendance were Director- General of the National Intelligence Agency, Ahmed Abubakar, Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris; the Director- General of the Department of State Services, Lawan Daura, and Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha.

According to a statement issued by the Defence Minister after the meeting, the service chiefs asked for more equipment to enhance their operations.

Tambuwal at PDP NEC meeting in Abuja

The Governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Tambuwal on Thursday attended the National Executive Committee meeting of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Abuja .

Tambuwal decamped from the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC to the opposition  Peoples Democratic Party, PDP on Wednesday.

Sokoto people cheer as Gov Tambuwal defects to PDP

A huge crowd of supporters gathered at the Sokoto State Government House on Wednesday as Governor Aminu Tambuwal announced his defection from the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC to the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

The governor however announced his defection via twitter.

Defection Wahala: Lai Muhammad seeks divine help

The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, on Wednesday, appealed to God to guide the Buhari administration “through the interesting times Nigeria is currently passing through.”

The minister made the appeal on Wednesday at the Presidential Villa, Abuja while saying the opening prayer at this week's session of the Federal Executive Council meeting.

The gale of defections blowing against the ruling All Progressives Congress continued on Tuesday and Wednesday as Senate President Bukola Saraki, Kwara State Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed, Nigeria’s Ambassador to South Africa , Alhaji Ahmed Ibeto and Sokoto State Governor, Alhaji Aminu Tambuwal left the party and joined the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

Recall that 14 Senators and 37 members of the House of Representatives had two weeks ago also defected to the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

Bolaji Abdullahi APC spokesman quits

These are certainly trying times for the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.

In the wake of the gale of defections that has hit the party, the National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, APC,  Mr. Bolaji Abdullahi has tendered his resignation letter to the party leadership.

Abdullahi disclosed this in a statement he issued in Abuja on Wednesday.
