NYSC set to deploy medical personnel to IDP camps

In its effort to support government in helping Internally Displaced Persons, the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC plans to deploy medical doctors, nurses, pharmacists and other medical professionals to IDP camps across the country.

The newly appointed The Director General of the NYSC, Brig-Gen. Sule Kazaure, disclosed this in Yola on Thursday while flagging-off the NYSC intervention programme at Damare IDP camp.

"This programme, which is designed to bring succour to the inmates in this centre, is also intended to compliment government’s efforts towards provision of the welfare needs of members of IDPs nationwide.

"The scheme, therefore, will deploy the services of corps professionals such as medical doctors, nurses, pharmacist, etc to the centres to assist Federal Government in the provision of medical and other sundry needs of the IDPs.

"Specifically corps members will be participating in medical outreaches, environmental sanitation, educational intervention and general awareness creation on healthy living," he said

He also enjoined well-meaning Nigerians and corporate organisations to support government in rehabilitating IDPs in the country.

May day: FG declares Monday a work free day

To commemorate this year's workers day celebration, the Federal Government has declared Monday May 2 a public holiday.

In this regard, Interior Minister , Lt. Gen. Abdulrahman Dambazau (rtd) has congratulated Nigerian Workers for their resilience, hard work and commitment to the change agenda of the Buhari administration, despite the prevailing challenges.

He urged Nigerians to continue to support the President in his quest to "fight corruption, ensure security of lives and property and stabilize the economy through creation of jobs and diversification of the economy."

Troops raided a Boko Haram logistics base in Dikwa on Wednesday.

The raid led to the arrest of five terrorists (3 adults and 2 minors) and recovery of 1 truck, 2 Golf cars painted in mud, 4 bicycles and 3 x 5kva power generating sets, as well as 55 bags of corn.

The minors were dressed in Boko Haram's new uniform.

The Director General of the National Youth Service Corps, Brig Gen Sule Kazaure this Thursday, kicked off the intervention program of the NYSC at Internally Displaced Persons camps in Adamawa State.
