Borno hunters ready to join fight against Boko Haram

Hunters in Borno State have renewed their call to be allowed to fight alongside soldiers against Boko Haram terrorists in Sambisa forest.

The Chief Hunter of Borno, Mallam Maigana Maidurma, made the call in Maiduguri on Sunday during a chat with News Agency of Nigeria, NAN.

He said that the farmers apart from knowing the Sambisa forest terrain also have supernatural powers.

“We are renewing out call on the military authorities to allow us join the search for Boko Haram elements in their Sambisa forest hideout.

“We are ready to pursue the terrorists because we know the terrain in and out,” he said

Maidurma said that the hunters were not afraid of any danger as their supernatural powers would come in handy.

“We know that it is true that the Boko Haram terrorists are in the habit of burying landmines to prevent encroachment into their hideout.

“But we believe that we can work in collaboration with Local Vigilantes, called Civilian JTF, to overrun them.

“Hunters from all the 27 Borno LGAs are all in Maiduguri with our leaders doing nothing at present because of Boko Haram.

“Rather than idling away, we will want to assist the military in crushing Boko Haram terrorists,” he said.

Recall that the hunters had made a similar call in January but were ignored

Fuel scarcity now to end in April - Kachikwu

Contrary to earlier statements credited to him that Nigerians would have to endure the long queues at petrol stations till May, the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Dr Ibe Kachikwu has announced that fuel scarcity will end in April.

The Minister who is also the Group Managing Director of the NNPC had earlier told newsmen during a media chat that he did not receive the training of a magician and could therefore not turn the situation around in an instant.

However, in a statement issued by NNPC spokesman, Mohammed Garba Deen on Friday, the Minister came out to calm frayed nerves.

“We have enough products lined up to ensure that the supply gap which created the problem is bridged. In order to ensure effective distribution we are working with Independent PetroleumMarketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), oil majors and over 1,000 NNPC staff, nationwide to ensure we overcome the obstacles in the distribution of the products,” he said.

He disclosed that 42 million litres of petrol had just been discharged while 44 million litres were currently being discharged.

He also said that vessels bearing another 44 million litres had just berthed, awaiting discharge.

AFCON 2017: Quotes from Mikel on clashes with Egypt

"We feel cheated with the way the Egyptians scored their goal."

"We expected them to give the ball back to us after one of my team mates kicked it out to enable the referee attend to attend to the injured player, but instead they went on with play and scored."

"Though it hurts a lot, there is a lot to play in the group. We believe we can beat them in Alexandria and that is what we are doing to do."

"I love the atmosphere in camp as everyone is determined to see us qualify for the next AFCON. We will fight till the end to ensure we achieve that objective."

“It’s a massive battle that we are going for, and there should be no illusion about it. We have to face reality, and everyone has to give more than 100 per cent because we just have to qualify for the Cup of Nations."

“We have to go to Alexandria and fight with everything we have. There are still matches to play and we have confidence that we will earn the ticket."
