Boko Haram Kill 14 On Christmas Day Raid

Not less than fourteen persons lost their lives while many others sustained injuries when gunmen on bicycles attacked Kimba village in Borno State, Northeast Nigeria on Christmas day.

According to vigilantes, the gunmen suspected to be Boko Haram terrorists rode into the village around 10 pm, shooting indiscriminately and setting homes on fire.

By the time the attackers fled, fourteen persons had been killed, said Mustapha Karimbe, a member of the Civilian Joint Task Force assisting the military in counter insurgency operations in the Northeast.

The attack came barely a few days after President Muhammadu Buhari announced that Boko Haram has been "technically" defeated.

Although largely confined to Sambisa forest at the moment, the insurgents have continued to carry out sporadic attacks and suicide bombings.

$2.1b Arms Scam: EFCC Set To Arraign Ex-PDP National Chairman, Son

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC has concluded plans to arraign a former National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Dr Haliru Bello Muhammad and his son Abbah in court for corruption.

Abbah Muhammad has already been taken into custody while his father who is said to be on admission at an Abuja hospital remains under the watchful eyes of the anti-graft agency.

The former PDP boss and his son were implicated in the diversion of $2.1b arms procurement fund.

A reliable EFCC said that the agency has “reached an appreciable bend in our investigation of the former National Chairman of PDP and his son, Abbah.

“Part of the $2.1billion meant for the purchase of arms has been traced to BAM Properties through authorization by the former PDP boss.

“All is now set for the prosecution of Haliru Bello Mohammed and Abbah Mohammed for their role in the diversion of funds meant for the procurement of arms in the office of the National Security Adviser.

“The EFCC has already filed charges against the two suspects at a Federal High Court in Abuja.

“Though the matter is yet to be assigned to a specific judge, the former minister and his son are most likely to be docked on a four-count money laundering charge on Tuesday, December 29 or Wednesday December 30.

“Abbah Mohammed is alleged to have received N600m from ONSA in the name of BAM Properties.

“We have already arrested Abbah in preparation for his trial. He has made a useful statement; it is left to him to prove his innocence in court.

“As for the ex-PDP National Chairman, he is hooked up in a hospital in Abuja on medical grounds. We are keeping a close tab on him, including update on his health status.

“We will however prefer charges against him and his son. We hope he will be on his feet on time for his trial.”

Zaria residents beg FG to save them from Shiites.

To some residents of Zaria and the neighbors of Ayatollah Ibraheem El-Zakzaky, life would be much better without the Islamic Movement of Nigeria.

These people want the Shiite sect proscribed because of over twenty years of oppression they have suffered from the movement.

Here is what the spokesman of the communities, Alhaji Idris Mohammed Baba told newsmen in Zaria on Saturday.

“My experience with Shiite followers is disastrous and terrible. At a point Shi’ite boys threatened to kill me. We are happy over the military action against Shi’ites movement in Zaria because we have fresh air now blowing in our areas.

“As a community, we wrote letters to the government about the  activities of Shi’ites but no single action was taken. We no longer report Shi’ites to police because they will never honour police or security invitation.

“These Shi’ites are an authority unto themselves; they don’t respect the authorities, the  security agencies and so on.

“We are Muslims but we discovered that   Shi’ites activities are contrary to Islam. They carry dangerous weapons and openly molest innocent people in our areas. Human rights groups should also look into our pains by the  sect members.”

Another resident, Alhaji Saidu Garba expressed happiness over the actions recently taken by the military and government against the sect.

“After  El-Zakzaky was released from detention in 1999,he came and settled in Gyallesu. Since then there is no peace in our area. We thank Allah for touching the heart of government and the military for liberating us from Shi’ites untold hardship,” he said

The community alleged that the Shiites had in May 2015, declared 24 youths persona non-grata for challenging their activities in Gyallesu where Zakzaky has his residence.

“Before, we can’t grant interview to the world about Shiites activities, but now (after Shiites clash with military), we are sleeping with our two eyes closed."

Goodluck Jonathan's Christmas Message To 'Team Nigeria'

Read former President Goodluck Jonathan’s goodwill message to Nigerians on Christmas day.

He posted it on his Facebook page.

"I love the game of football, and today, as I was watching a game, it occurred to me that even the most talented footballer in the world can not go anywhere if he will not work with others.

"Talent may win some games, but only teamwork wins the Championship.

"Jesus Christ our Lord, was born to bring people together and no matter the temptation to pursue individual or group interests over the collective, let us not forget that you and I belong to Team Nigeria and we must never allow individual or group aspirations distract us from the Championship ambition we have as a nation to be a beacon of hope in Africa and a pillar of the International Community.

"Merry Christmas from my family and I to you and your family. GEJ."
