Middle Belt Groups Kick Against Grazing Reserves

The Conference of Autochthonous Ethnic Nationalities Development Association is happy with the federal government over plans to create a road map to resolve herdsmen/farmers conflicts in the middle belt region.

However, Vanguard reports that the association is not happy with the plan to carve out grazing routes for herdsmen in the area.

In a statement issued in Jos yesterday and signed by Suleman Sukukum, the Association’s Secretary-General it advocated the phasing out of cattle routes and grazing reserves but placed emphasis on ranching and curbing of cattle rustling activities with States which have large livestock populations maintaining grazing reserves.

The statement was copied to the Ministry of Agriculture, National Security Adviser, Inspector General of Police, Director-General State Security Services, Chairman Northern Traditional Rulers Council, Speaker House of Representatives and the Senate President.

Nigeria Is Not A Poor Country - Buhari

Incompetent leadership and corruption have combined to make Nigerians poor. So says President Muhammadu Buhari.

"Nigeria is not a poor country: we have the natural resources and ingenuity to be an economic superpower. It is our people who have been made to be poor because of incompetence and corruption.

"If we can recover the stolen money, attract private sector investments, and tackle corruption, then we will be able to provide the economic growth and development; that is the long-term answer to insecurity."

Frightful Times

These are frightful times for the corrupt, even if they are in the ruling party APC. Here is what PMB said during his recent US tour.

"You cannot cure a sick patient by only treating one half of them. There will be no political interference in the fight against corruption – and no political favours to protect the corrupt from justice. "

Hmm. If you're corrupt, these are not the best of times for you. Start running or better still, return the loot and sin no more.

We Can't Clean 16 Years Of Mess In A Few Months - Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari has said that he needs  time to put the country on the right path. He spoke while taking questions from journalists during his just concluded visit to the United States of America.

"We cannot clean up 16 years of mess in a few months of frantic activity. I know that people are impatient for change, but it is far more important to take your time and take the right steps and appoint the right people than to run around pretending to be doing something, yet achieve nothing.

"First, I will make sure that the right rules and management structures are in place to ensure good government.

"Only then will I appoint credible ministers, with the track record of delivery and probity in good time. After all, President Obama did not complete the appointment of his first cabinet until five months after he was elected and America did not cease functioning in the meantime."
