Nigerian Troops Find Condoms, Hard Drugs In Boko Haram Camps

If you expect to find only IEDs, rifles and sundry arms in Boko Haram camps, you're dead wrong. Nigerian troops who have sacked the insurgents from many of their camps made shocking discoveries.

Western education may be forbidden to Boko Haram, but certainly, illicit sex and drugs are not.

As Nigerian Army disclosed yesterday, hard drugs, sex enhancement drugs and condoms are usually found in camps captured from the militants.

This according to Army spokesman, Col Sani Usman suggest that the insurgents are not driven by Islamic ideology. He added that most of the fighters arrested could not recite the Quran.

Col Sani Usman said that troops of the 3rd Division yesterday arrested suppliers of hard drugs and stimulants to the insurgents at locations in Geidam local government area of Yobe State.

“The arrested persons were also engaged in the supply of fuel in addition to hard drugs such as Cannabis (Indian Hemp), Chlorofone substance (AKA Madaran suck and die) and Tramol, amongst others.

“You will recall that sometimes ago we reported that ironically most of the Boko Haram terrorists captured by Nigerian military cannot read the Holy Qur’an, some of them cannot even recite the first chapter- Suratuh Al-Fatiha and yet they claimed they wanted to establish an ‘Islamic State’.

“When the Nigerian military captured their bases and training camps, they never found Qur’an or other Islamic books, what were mostly found were ammunition, local charms, condoms and all sort of drugs including sex enhancing ones in their enclaves, " he said.

Buhari May Reduce Number Of Foreign Missions

President Muhammadu Buhari said on Tuesday that his government plans to review the Nigerian foreign missions to know which ones are really necessary.

The president spoke in Abuja after a meeting with Ambassador Bulus Lolo, Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He said that the committee to carry out the review is already in the works.

Buhari said that the committee will determine how many foreign missions Nigeria needs to have in order to maintain appropriate standards.

"Let's keep only what we can manage. We can't afford much for now. There's no point in pretending, ’’ he said.

Every Player Is Replaceable - Oliseh.

".. . . these boys playing now have definitely gathered some points so those who want to displace them would have to fight for shirts. They have to show the hunger to play for Nigeria. Everyone here is replaceable. Only Nigeria cannot be replaced. I retired and people are still playing for the country. Nobody is indispensable.”

These are the exact words of Super Eagles gaffer, Sunday Oliseh. He was responding to a reporter's question about the absence of John Mikel Obi and Victor Moses from the team.

After they beat Niger Republic 2 -  0 in an international friendly, Oliseh lauded the boys for improving on their performance in the AFCON qualifier in Dar es Salaam last Saturday.

The two goals were scored by Ahmed Musa and Moses Simon in the 11th and 85th minutes respectively.

Meanwhile, former Super Eagles coach, Christian Chukwu has said that the win against Niger will serve as a morale booster for the boys.

"I believe this win against Niger is good for the morale of the team. They face a massive task against Egypt in their next qualifying game and need to go into that game in confident mood, ” he said.

Obasanjo, Buhari In Closed-door Meeting

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo and President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday met behind closed doors at the Aso Rock Villa, Abuja.

No statement was issued at the end of the meeting which lasted for about an hour.

Details of the meeting were not disclosed and neither Obasanjo nor Buhari spoke to newsmen.

Military Authorities Ban Use Of Horses In Borno

Following the recent resort to the use of horses for attacks by Boko Haram militants, military authorities have banned the use of horses in the entire Borno State.

According to military spokesman, Col Tukur Gusau,
“Military authorities have banned the use of horses in the entire Borno state to stave off Boko Haram terrorist attacks. "

With pressure from the military intensifying against them, the militants have in past few weeks resorted to horseback attacks.

It is reported that the Shehu of Borno has expressed his support for the ban by instructing his traditional chiefs and subjects to comply with it.

Use Siren Illegally, Face Arrest - Police

Henceforth, unauthorized persons using siren in the country will be arrested.

Force Public Relations Officer, ASP Olabisi Kolawole to NAN on Tuesday that the police would act on government circular on the use of siren.

She said that though indiscriminate use of siren has reduced, the police will not relent on its effort to enforce the law.

According to a 2012 directive, the federal government listed the following categories of persons as those authorized to use siren;

The President, Vice President, Senate President, Speaker, their deputies, state governors and service chiefs, the Inspector-General of Police, General Officers Commanding , Deputy Inspectors-General of Police (DIGs), Assistant Inspectors-General of Police (AIGs),  and Commissioners of Police.
