Stolen purse lands man in jail for 6 weeks

49 years old Ibrahim Jibril of no fixed address has been handed a 6 weeks jail term by a Gudu Upper Area Court, Abuja for stealing a purse.

Jibril was convicted by the presiding judge, Mr Umar Kagarko after pleading guilty to a two-count charge of criminal trespass and theft.

He was however given an option of N6000 fine.

Earlier, the prosecutor, Fidelis Ogbobe told the court that contrary to Sections 348 and 284 of the Penal Code, Jibril had on March 27, “criminally trespassed into the building of the Accountant General of the Federation, AGF.

“He went into the office and stole a purse belonging to one Mrs Oloruyonu Maria, a staff of the office of the AGF.

“During police investigation, the said purse was recovered from him.’’
