Gabon and Borussia Dortmund striker, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has dethroned Cote D’Ivoire's Yaya Toure as African Footballer of the Year.
At Glo-CAF Awards held on Thursday night at the International Conference Center, Abuja, Aubameyang beat Yaya Toure and Ghana's Andre Ayew to lift the coveted trophy.
Other awards given at the event were: African Footballer of the Year Based in Africa won by
Mbwana Aly Samatta of Botswana; Most Promising Talent won by Oghenekaro Etebo of the Nigeria U-23 team; Youth Player of the Year won by Victor Osimhen of the Golden Eaglets and Coach of the Year won by Herve Renard.
Other people who won awards were :
Gaelle Enganamouit of Cameroon, Women’s Player of the Year. Bakary Papa Gassama, of The Gambia, Referee of the Year, while the duo of Charles Gyamfi (Ghana) and Samuel Leppe (Cameroon) won the African Legends of the Year Award.
