Court Orders DSS To Release Radio Biafra Chief

A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja on Thursday ordered the Department of State Services, DSS to release  pro-Biafra leader and Director of Radio Biafra, Mr. Nnamdi Kanu from its custody.

The presiding judge, Justice Adeniyi Ademola in his ruling on  Kanu's bail application held that his continued detention without any pending charges against him contravenes the provisions of section 35(4) of the Constitution of the country.

Consequently, he set aside, his last month’s order, permitting the DSS to detain Kanu for up to 90 days.

Justice Ademola ruled that Kanu’s continued detention for over two months without any charge showed that the DSS lacked‎ sufficient materials to prosecute him or was still undecided about what to do with him.
