In his Eid-el-fitri message to Nigerians on Friday, President Muhammadu Buhari had a few words for his critics. He told those who have been accusing him of being too slow in governance that although he shared their feelings that there was much work to do, it is necessary to proceed carefully, so as not to miss the opportunity provided by the moment to fix the country.
President Buhari said that to meet the expectations of Nigerians, he had been working "with utmost dedication to meticulously plan and tackle the many national challenges" the APC has identified and pledged to resolve.
He went on to say that " I share the feelings of those who think that we should be moving faster. But I urge them and all Nigerians to trust that my commitment to real and positive change in our nation is as firm as ever. There is indeed much work to be done, but we must do it well and carefully to ensure that the great opportunity which we now have is not lost to the "business as usual" group who selfishly and shortsightedly prefer a status quo that panders to their personal or group interests."
He assured Nigerians that the adverse effects of years of rot, corruption and bad governance are surmountable, even though they are immensely challenging.
