Buhari's aide provokes angry reactions with reminder of assassination attempt.

An attempt to celebrate the fourth anniversary of an attack on President Muhammadu Buhari’s convoy by his Personal Assistant , Bashir Ahmad has attracted angry remarks from Nigerians .

Ahmad had twitted a photo of the bullet ridden SUV in which the president was attacked while he was travelling as a presidential candidate four years ago.

The Nigerians who responded to the twit were particularly irked by President Buhari’s handling of rampant killings across the country .

This is not a good time to remind us of this. He wasnt president then. He is now so we will demand security and many other things from him. Heck we can demand him to physically raise Nigeria and relocate it to Mars, its within his purview.Your tweet is insensitive to our plight.

Quit looking for 2019 sympathy for Buhari and focus on governance! How's Buhari's life more important than that of 100s being slaughtered daily by herdsmen crisis that you went to dig this up? By the way, he survived and became president and how well has Nigeria faired under him?

Gunmen kill ex-commissioner on Abuja-Kaduna road

The immediate past Commissioner for Education in Katsina State, Prof. Halimatu Idris, was killed by unknown gunmen on Sunday evening along the Abuja-Kaduna highway.

Lamenting the loss on Sunday, Governor Aminu Bello Masari of Katsina State prayed Allah to forgive the slain professor her shortcomings and grant her family the fortitude to bear the loss.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Education on Monday, officially announced the demise of the former commissioner.

In a statement signed by its Public Relations Officer, Salisu Kerau, the ministry said,

“Innalillahi Wa Inna ilaihi rajiun . The death has been announced of the former Commissioner of Education Katsina State, Prof . Halimatu Sadiya Idris.

“Funeral prayer is scheduled to hold at Unguwar Sarki Kaduna by 1:00pm.

“May Allah forgive all her shortcomings and grant her Aljanna.”

Hijab wahala: Abuja school names hostel after Law School graduate

The management of Islamic Leadership Academy, Kuje, Abuja has named one of its girls' hostels after Barrister Firdausi Aljannah Amasa.

In 2017,the law graduate of the University of Illorin was disallowed from performing the call to bar ceremony by the Nigerian Law School for insisting on wearing her hijab during the occasion.

However, following the furore generated by the incident, the Nigerian Law School Body Of Benchers in 2018, approved the use of hijab by female Muslim lawyers during call to bar ceremonies.

The Proprietor of Islamic Leadership Academy, Kuje described Amasa's call to bar as a victory for female Muslim lawyers as regards the wearing of the hijab in Nigeria.

New FCT Police chief talks tough, releases security numbers

The Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Abuja police command has a new boss in the person of tough talking CP Bala Ciroma.

In a statement issued by the spokesman of the command, DSP Anjuguri Manza, CP Ciroma pledged to rid Abuja of criminals.

He called for the support of residents and other security outfits in the city in order to achieve the objective.

He said that residents could help the police with timely information through the following dedicated phone numbers: 08032003913, 08061581938, 07057337653, 08028940883.

Man kills friend over fleeing cow, N100 in Abuja

A fight between two friends over a hundred naira tip given to them for catching a fleeing cow has resulted in the death of one of them.

The unfortunate incident happened last Thursday at the cattle market in Abaji, a suburb of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

According to eyewitness accounts, the two friends had helped a cattle dealer to catch a run away cow.

An argument over who should take the N100 tip given to them for their efforts by the cattle dealer degenerated into a fight during which one fatally hit the other on the neck.

The Abaji Divisional Police Officer. CSP Tersoo Tile confirmed the incident, adding that the remains of the deceased which was deposited at Abaji General Hospital had been released to his relatives for burial.

Tile also said that the killer friend who survived jungle justice in the hands of the mob which gathered at the scene was taken to the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital, Gwagwalada for treatment.

Osinbajo, Saraki, governors meet behind closed doors in Abuja

Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki and some state governors on Thursday,  met at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

Governors sighted around President Buhari’s office where the meeting held are Aminu Masari of Katsina State, Zamfara State governor and Chairman of Nigeria Governors Forum, Abdulaziz Yari,  Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi State and Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun State.

However, President Buhari left the office before the arrival of Saraki to the meeting which agenda were not disclosed.

Ekiti election: Fayemi presents Certificate of Return to Buhari (photo)

The winner of the just concluded governorship election in Ekiti state, Dr. Kayode Fayemi on Thursday presented the certificate of return issued to him by the Independent Electoral Commission, INEC, to President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The governor elect posed for a photograph with PMB during the presentation.
