Newly appointed Comptroller General of Nigeria Immigration Service, Mr Martins Abeshi has warned his officers against corrupt practices.
During a working visit to Lagos, Abeshi told his men that President Buhari appointed him specifically to fight corruption in the service.
He warned those in the habit of collecting bribe that they could be offered marked money. He added that any corrupt officer exposed would be dismissed from the service.
“I want us to try as much as possible to stop these corrupt practices. Let me warn you that the era of marked money is here. Those of you who collect millions and thousands from people should be warned. If you collect the money and you think you have hit the jackpot, when they arrest you, I will disown you.
“So, be careful. I advise you to be careful. President Buhari is spending a lot of money fighting corruption,” he said.
Abeshi also declared that because of allegations of extortion, government has banned Immigration officers from going to companies' premises to check expatriates' work permit.
