The Governing Council of the University of Abuja has approved the appointment of two new Deputy Vice Chancellors for the institution.
Professor Edmund Joseph Nwana was appointed as the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Academic, while Professor Muhammadu Abdullahi Katcha is now the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Administration.
The new appointees had emerged victorious in the elections conducted by the senate of the university at its 163rd regular sitting in Abuja last month.
According to a statement issued by the Deputy Registrar, Information and Publications, Waziri Garba, the appointments which will run for two years is with effect from the 7th of February, 2017.
Before his appointment, Prof Nwana, a graduate of Medicine from the University of Ibadan was the Dean of Uniabuja's Postgraduate School.
Nwana had previously served the University as member of the Governing Council, Director Development Office and Chairman Staff Disciplinary Committee.
Professor Katcha, was the Head, Department of Science and Environmental Education at the time of his appointment He is also a one-time, Deputy Director, Centre for Distance Learning and Continuing Education, CDL&CE; Coordinator, Postgraduate Studies of the Department of Science and Environmental Education and member of the CDL&CE Management Board.
