The Federal Government on Thursday disclosed that it recovered 40 new SUVs from a retired Permanent Secretary.
The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed said in a statement that the former government official appropriated the vehicles to himself while leaving office.
He said that the feat was a result of the administration's well articulated anti-corruption strategy.
“The strategy has proven so effective and that it has led to, among others, the recovery of 40 brand new SUVs and other vehicles from one former
Permanent Secretary who single-handedly appropriated the vehicles to himself when he left office.”
He added that other measures had been perfected to strengthen the anti-corruption war including the establishment of the Presidential Committee on Asset Recovery, the Assets Tracing Committee; the Assets Register, and the Whistle Blower Policy.
