Kaduna State Govt pardons 15 prisoners

As part of its ongoing prisons decongestion exercise, the government of Kaduna State has released 15 prisoners from the Kaduna Central Prison.

The Chairperson of the Kaduna State Committee on Prisons Decongestion, Amina Dyeris-Sijuwade disclosed this on Friday.

Dyeris-Sijuwade said in a statement, issued by her media aide, Barau Emmanuel on Friday that most of the freed inmates, including a female, were first-time offenders held for non-capital offences.

“The committee also reviewed the bail conditions of several inmates that were deemed excessive.

“They were also encouraged to start meaningful ventures or vocations and those who could return to school were urged to do so to help themselves and the society."
