Until his arrest on the orders of President Muhammadu Buhari, Mohammed Umar was a key figure in the panel investigating the arms procurement fraud that happened during the last administration.
According to a Premium Times report, Umar was arrested at his home in Abuja over his involvement with a blackmailing and extortion cartel.
The Director-General of the Department of State Services, DSS , Lawal Daura had reportedly tabled reports of blackmail and extortion involving Mohammed Umar before the President.
“The president became worried and jittery when he was confronted with the way a man he trusted had been behaving.
“So he ordered that he should be picked up while the allegations against him are thoroughly investigated,” said an anonymous source.
