Two AFVs hit by IED as troops clear seven villages of terrorists

Two Armored Fighting Vehicles, AFVs attached to the 28 Task Force Brigade were on Friday hit by Improvised Explosive Devices, IEDs while conducting clearance operations in the Northeast.

Although no human casualties were recorded, the vehicles sustained minimal damages.

The troops however successfully cleared the seven target villages, namely, Galtha Baba, Galtha Musa, Bulakurma, Shatimari, Chukruk, Bulangaje, and Disa of terrorist elements.

Army spokesman Col Sani Usman said that one Boko Haram terrorist was captured alive while several items including  3 motorcycles, bags of grains, Boko Haram flags and uniforms, suicide bomber’s hijab, mobile phone and 1 Dane gun, as well as foodstuffs and cooking utensils were recovered.

Usman also said that troops also rescued 15 persons who had been held hostage by the Boko Haram terrorists in the area.
