Saraki thanks senators for withdrawing Anti-Social Media Bill

In deference to the wishes of Nigerians, the Senate on Tuesday formally stepped down the Frivolous Petitions Bill better known as the Anti-Social Media Bill.

The Senate said that the decision to withdraw the unpopular bill followed the
recommendations of the Committee on Human Rights & Legal Matters.

After the bill was withdrawn, Senate President, Bukola Saraki was on Twitter to thank his colleagues and express his joy.

This withdrawal of
#SocialMediaBill shows that any legislation with real or perceived violations on the fundamental rights of Nigerians must be set aside for the greater good of our nation.
