Rio 2016 Olympics: Nigerian wrestler, coach denied visa by Turkish embassy

Olympic hopeful, Blessing Onyebuchi and her coach Victor Kodei were on Thursday in Abuja denied visa to travel to Turkey for the second World Olympic Games qualification tournament  taking place at the Bagcilar Sports Complex in Istanbul.

The athlete and coach were denied visa despite meeting all the necessary requirements.

The embassy thus truncated the dream of the 2015 All Africa Games silver medalist to participate in the Rio 2016 Olympics by forcing to miss out on the qualification games billed for May 6 - 8, 2016.

Nigeria Wrestling Federation, NWF President, Daniel Igali described the action of the Turkish Embassy in denying Onyebuchi the chance to pick up one of the 36 tickets on offer in Turkey as wicked and humiliating.
