An Abuja based trader, Sunny Onugu, 45 was on Friday arraigned before the judge at a Kado Grade 1 Area Court on a two-count charge of gross indecency and assault.
Onugu is facing trial for allegedly touching a woman’s breast without her consent.
According to the Prosecutor, Salisu Khaleel, Onugu, who lives at Plot 26, Dan-Suleiman Street, Utako, Abuja had on February 29 touched one Adeyemi Rafiu's breast without her consent while she was buying a candle at his shop.
Khaleel told the court that when the woman protested the sexual harassment, the accused dealt her a slap in the face, thereby contravening sections 285 and 265 of the Penal Code.
He added that Rafiu reported the matter at the Utako police station on the same date.
The accused pleaded not guilty to the charges and was granted bail by the presiding judge Malam Abubakar Sadiq in the sum of N50,000 with one surety in like sum.
He ordered that the surety must be a civil servant not below Grade Level 06.
