Alhaji Mustapha Adamu of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA was on Wednesday declared the winner of the Gwagwalada Area Council Chairmanship election in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.
News Agency of Nigeria, NAN reports that Adamu was declared the winner following a re-run election conducted to determine the winner of the inconclusive April 9 election.
“Mustapha Bello of APGA, having satisfied the requirement of the law and scored the highest votes is hereby declared winner and elected,’’ said the Returning Officer, Mr Adamu Tanimu.
According to INEC's result sheet APGA's Mustapha Bello got 678 votes in the supplementary election, bringing his total votes to 15,950 having polled 15,272 votes in the April 9 election, while the incumbent Chairman
Alhaji Abubakar Giri of APC got 23 votes bringing his total to 14, 569 votes
Mr Abdullahi of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP came a distant third with a total of 682 votes having failed to get a single vote in Wednesday’s re-run election.
