Two businessmen get N200,000 bail for receiving stolen laptop.

A Grade 1 Area Court in Lugbe, Abuja on Wednesday heard how two businessmen, Musa Yahaya, 35 and Olasogba Olawale, 38 received a stolen laptop computer from a burglary suspect.

The accused persons, both businessmen and residents of Federal Housing Authority, FHA Lugbe, Abuja, are standing trial for receiving stolen property in contravention of Section 317 of the Penal Code.

The Prosecutor, Miss Vivian Oporomo, had told the court that one Abdulakez Alabi of Piwoyi Village Lugbe, reported a case of stolen laptop bag at Lugbe Police Station on March 14, 2016.

She said that one Favour Oyiekon broke into the complainant's house on the same date and stole a laptop bag containing N175,000 cash and a laptop computer worth N90,000.

Oporomo said that Oyiekon was apprehended and upon interrogation, confessed that he sold the stolen laptop computer to the accused persons for N5000.

The defendants pleaded not guilty to the charge and were granted bail by the presiding judge, Mr Garba Ogbede in the sum of N100,000 and one surety each in like sum.

He ordered that the sureties must have reasonable means of livelihood and  reside within the jurisdiction of the court.

He adjourned the matter till April 5, 2016.
