Kano governor pardons 39 cattle rustlers

Thirty-nine cattle rustlers who turned in their arms and denounced banditry in Kano State have been asked to go and sin no more.

Speaking during a ceremony to mark the pardon at Gomo forest in Sumaila Local Government Area, the State Governor, Alhaji Ganduje expressed happiness over the decision of the former cattle rustlers to turn over a new leaf.

He noted that the development has brought reprieve to the people of Sumaila and Doguwa Local Government Areas.

Ganduje recalled with sadness that in the past, the criminals engaged in rape, armed robbery, drug peddling and killings of innocent citizens within the area, a situation which he said had a telling effect on economic activities.

Ganduje had in December 2015, promised amnesty and rehabilitation to repentant cattle rustlers. He said that plans were underway to reintegrate the group of 39 into the society.
