President Muhammadu Buhari's soon-to-be inaugurated committee on rehabilitation and resettlement of internally displaced persons (IDPs) in the North-east is to be led by Africa's richest man, Aliko Dangote and former Minister of Defense, T Y Danjuma. .
According to the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu, the committee will also see to the resettlement of Internally Displaced Persons, IDPs.
On Friday at the State House , Abuja, President Buhari had while responding to a goodwill message from Women In Politics Forum, WIPF said that all forms of assistance and aid generated locally and internationally as promised by the group of seven of industrialised countries, G7 will be channeled through the committee when it is inaugurated.
He also said that a list of damaged infrastructure, including schools and bridges had been compiled and sent to the leaders of the G7 and the United States.
“I didn’t ask for a Kobo (in cash). It is up to them to choose what they will undertake. Already, some of them have sent teams to verify our assertions.
“In the northeast, what I saw for myself and on those clips is a source of concern for people with conscience. They are mostly women, and children who are orphaned. Some of them don’t even know where they come from. This is the pathetic situation in which the country has found itself, ” he said.
