The Senior Special Assistant to the Vice President on Media and Publicity, Mr Laolu Akande on Sunday said that the Federal Government has signed a $2.3b assistance agreement to end extreme poverty with the United States Agency for International Development, USAID.
Akande said the agreement would help government to fight extreme poverty among Nigerians over the next five years.
He said that while Vice President Yemi Osinbajo signed the agreement on behalf of the Federal Government, USAID Head of Mission in Nigeria, Mr Michael Harvey signed for the United States government. The agreement was signed at the Presidential Villa, Abuja last week.
Akande quoted Osinbajo as saying that since Buhari's visit to President Obama at the White House in July, the two countries have seen better cooperation.
