Army Chief Hoists Nigerian Flag In Gamboru, Sleeps In The Trench With Troops

The Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen Tukur Buratai has hoisted the Nigerian flag in the commercial town of Gamboru Ngala in Borno State. The town which lies on the border with Cameroun was recently recaptured from Boko Haram insurgents by Nigerian troops.

A statement released in Abuja on Thursday by the Acting Director, Army Public Relations, Col Sani Usman said that Buratai warned the front line troops involved in the offensive against complacency.

He told them to be on top of their game until the insurgents are completely defeated. He reminded them that the militants are still planting IEDs and attacking soft targets.

While hoisting the Nigerian flag at Gamboru, Gen Buratai had Said :

“This signifies the restoration of Nigeria’s authority and complete possession of its territory within the area.“

I commended our troops for the feat of recapturing the strategic and economic town of Gomboru Ngala.

“This is in line with the vision and the mission of the Nigerian Army of defending the territorial integrity of our great nation."

The troops were inspired by Lt Gen Buratai's visit to the front line during which he slept in the trenches amid heavy downpour.
