There was pandemonium in Kano yesterday as a trigger-happy corporal from the Yankaba Police Division shot dead, a taxi driver and the sick female passenger he was conveying to hospital.
Vanguard reports that an eyewitness, Isa Tanko said that the killings happened around 9.30 in the morning.
“The cab driver was flagged down at a security check point by officers of the Nigeria Police and, within two minutes, I heard gunshots that sent shivers down the spines of onlookers. We rushed to the scene and found the driver in a pool of his blood; so also was a woman gasping for breathe inside the cab who gave up the ghost before help could come her way, " Tanko said.
The eyewitness added that the suspect quickly ran away in a waiting police van before he could be lynched by the angry mob that soon gathered at the scene.
