Former Chief Security Officer to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, Mr Gordon Obua has dispelled rumors that he had died in DSS custody. Addressing a press conference at the DSS headquarters in Abuja, Mr Obua said he was alive and healthy and was being treated well by the DSS.
"This morning (Tuesday), my attention was drawn to reports that I had died in detention and this has caused serious anxiety within the country. I want to use this medium to thank Nigerians and members of my family who have expressed very serious concerns about my wellbeing in the last six days.
"I want to use this medium to tell Nigerians and members of my family that I am hale and hearty. So far, there is no adverse situation.
"As a serving officer of DSS and having completed my tour of duty as Chief Security Officer to the last president, the service feels I should give account of my tenure.
Nigerians should be assured that the DSS is a very responsible organization and I am sure that nothing adverse will happen to me once it is ascertained that I did nothing wrong. "
Mr Obua did not take questions from journalists and was taken away by DSS operatives immediately after his speech.
