The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has berated the president of the Nigerian Bar Association, Abubakar Mahmoud for proposing the curtailment of its powers.
In a statement issued by its spokesman, Mr Wilson Uwujaren, the EFCC described the suggestion which Mahmoud made at his inauguration on Friday, as a "cleverly disguised campaign" to protect some powerful forces who are not comfortable with its anti-graft crusade.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC has disclosed its seizure of two choice shopping malls allegedly acquired by serving Resident Electoral Commissioner, Gesil Khan, with her share of the N23.29bn bribe disbursed by former Minister of Petroleum resources, DIezani Alison-Madueke during the 2015 general elections.
The anti graft agency also disclosed that the sum of N49 million found in Khan's bank account has been frozen.
