Army issues alert on escaped bandits with gunshot wounds
The Nigerian Army has called on members of the public, particularly in Zamfara, Sokoto, Katsina and Kaduna States to look out for suspicious persons especially those with gun shot wounds and report such to the appropriate authorities.
Army spokesman Col Sani Usman said that the suspects escaped a raid carried out by troops of 1 Brigade Nigerian Army and the Nigeria Police on bandits and cattle rustlers in Maru, Zamfara State on Monday.
Usman however said that a lot of arms and ammunitions were recovered during the raid carried under Operation Sharandaji.
Ramadan fast: Dangote uplifts Borno IDPs with two billion naira donation.
Internally Displaced Persons in Borno State are now guaranteed of a blissful Ramadan courtesy of a N2b donation by President of Dangote Foundation, Alhaji Aliko Dangote.
Making the donation to the Borno State Government in Maiduguri on Monday, Dangote said that the entire food requirements of all the IDPs in the state during the forthcoming Ramadan would be met by the foundation.
The billionaire had earlier visited some of the IDP camps with Borno State Governor, Alhaji Kashim Shettima and his Deputy, Alhaji Usman Mamman Durkwa
During the visits, Dangote had said; “Although my Foundation had spent N1.4billion in Borno, Yobe and Adamawa states, it is not enough and this is why I am here to see things for myself. I want to assure you that we shall continue to work with both State and Federal governments to make sure there is hunger- free at the IDPs camps.
“My Foundation will assist the Borno State government with the sum of N2 billion naira so that the Governor can focus on developmental projects.”
Alhaji Dangote also paid homage to the Shehu of Borno, Alhaji Umar Garbai Ibn Elkanemi at his palace where he pledged his support for Borno State in the rehabilitation, reconstruction and resettlement of victims of terrorism.
“Like I said earlier that our visit will not be the last but we will continue to partner with Borno State government to create jobs for our people, also I assure you that the entire food for IDPs during Ramadan will be supplied by Dangote Foundation to alleviate the suffering of our of people.” he said.
The monarch thanked Dangote for his support for the state.
“Now you have donated 2 Billion Naira to IDPs, thereby putting smiles on their faces, because this is the highest to the best of my knowledge. In fact, this will go a long way in ameliorating their plight," he said.
The Borno State Governor, Alhaji Kashim Shettima also thanked Dangote for coming to the rescue of his people.

At last Kenneth Okonkwo has a child
Veteran Nollywood actor Kenneth Okonkwo and his wife ended a nine-year wait for a child over the weekend when their bundle of joy arrived.
Mrs Okonkwo was delivered of a baby boy at the St Joseph Medical Center, Baltimore.
Both mother and child are said to be doing fine.
Match Commissioner dies after league game
The Match Commissioner in Sunday's Nigerian Professional Football League match between Kano Pillars and Ikorodu United, Mr Tanko Nuhu was found dead on Monday morning, less than twenty four hours after the game.
The match which was played at the Sani Abacha Stadium, Kano was won by Pillars with a 2-1 margin.
The Nigeria Football Federation, NFF announced the unfortunate development on its Twitter handle on Monday.
