Troops clear 4 villages of Boko Haram terrorists

Troops have continued their clearance operations inside Sambisa forest and other areas.

On Monday, troops of 21 Brigade, 7 Division cleared 4 villages hitherto under the terrorists control, namely Bala Karege, Goske, Harda and Markas 3.

At the time of the operation, the Boko Haram terrorists had abandoned their camps and run away.

A statement by Army spokesman, Col Sani Usman disclosed that troops recovered several items including
"1 Rocket Propelled Grenade (RPG) Bomb, 18 rounds of 23mm Shilka ammunition, 1 Barrel of AK-47 rifle, 1 Extra-barrel of General Purpose Machine Gun (GPMG), 3 AK-47 rifle magazines, metal link of 12.7mm ammunition and a heavy-duty solar panel battery."

He added that the troops also recovered 10 vehicles and 50 motorcycles belonging to the fleeing terrorists.

Fani-Kayode on arrival at EFCC's Abuja office on Monday morning

Former Minister of Aviation and spokesman of the Goodluck Jonathan Campaign Organization, Femi Fani-Kayode arrived the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC headquarters in Abuja at about 9.30 this morning to honor the anti-graft agency’s invitation.

He is expected to answer questions on the N840m paid into his account in the run up to the 2015 Presidential election.

Four dead, three injured in Jebba train accident - NRC

The Nigeria Railway Corporation, NRC confirmed on Sunday that four persons died while there others were injured in Saturday's train accident at Jebba bridge.

The Assistant Director of Publicity in NRC, Mr Rauf Akinloye, told newsmen that the casualties were recorded in the rear section of the Northbound train.

Akinloye said that the deceased had been evacuated to the morgue while the injured were treated and discharged.

He also said that the damaged tracks were being repaired so as to restore North-South services.

Akinloye assured travellers of safety of their lives and properties despite Saturday's accident.

Meanwhile, the Senate President, Bukola Saraki and Kwara State Governor, Abdulfatah Ahmed had commiserated with the families of the victims.

They described the accident as unfortunate and urged the NRC to investigate the causes to avoid incidents like that in the future.
