Aisha Buhari’s book launch: Kogi State Governor denies N70m donation

The Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Bello has dismissed reports that he donated N70m at last week's book launch of the wife of the President, Mrs Aisha Buhari.

In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Kingsley Fanwo, on Sunday, Gov Bello accused the opposition of turning politics to a comical adventure.

“The book launch was organised by the nation’s first lady to garner support for the families of the abducted Chibok girls which was attended by Governor Bello to lend support to the traumatised families of the girls. As a political leader and a parent, Governor Bello is touched by the plight of the girls and their families, hence the will to identify with the project.

“The book launch was televised to the whole world and no one announced what anyone donated. Governor Bello did not donate N70m as insinuated by the people who are turning opposition politics to a comical adventure,” he said.

El-Rufai closes Govt House clinic, sends staff to public hospitals.

In a surprise move that is bound to set tongues wagging, Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai has shut down the state house clinic and redeployed its staff to public hospitals.

While the drugs and equipment in the clinic were moved to  Yusuf Dansotho Hospital, Tudun Wada, Kaduna, l Government House personnel were directed to be using the Dansotho Hospital for their medical needs.

The Special Assistant to the Governor on Media and Publicity, Mr Samuel Aruwan said in a statement that the move is intended to strengthen the healthcare system in the state by moving medical personnel, drugs and equipment to public hospitals where they are most needed.

“There are not yet enough doctors in the public health system in Kaduna State, therefore it is not prudent to assign doctors, nurses and other medical staff to serve Government House alone. It is clearly more beneficial to the wider society if the services of these medical personnel were made available to the public in a general hospital.

” In addition, it is better that everyone working in the Government House uses the same health facilities as the general public.”
