Troops kill 3 suicide bombers, arrest 3 insurgents near Maiduguri

Troops of the 101 Battalion, 7 Division early Saturday foiled terrorist attacks on Maiduguri, the Borno State capital.

According to a statement issued on Saturday by the Acting Director, Army Public Relations, Col Sani Kukasheka Usman, the terrorists were intercepted on their way from Sambisa forest following a tip-off.

"Today, at about 4.00am troops of 101 Battalion of 7 Division received a tip off about impending attack in Maiduguri city by 4 suspected Boko Haram terrorists suicide bombers from Sambisa forest through Cashew Plantation.

"The ever vigilant troops responded decisively by intercepting and neutralizing of the suspected terrorists at Madiyari village, while the third suicide bomber was intercepted and neutralized at Jimini-Bolori village.

"Unfortunately 3 of our soldiers sustained injuries in the process and they have been evacuated to the unit’s Regimental Aid Post (RAP), for treatment.
The 2 unexploded Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) on the suicide bombers were safely detonated by a combined team of Nigeria Police and our Explosive Ordinance Device (EOD) experts.

"In a related development, the troops also arrested 3 suspected Boko Haram terrorists at Nwagafete village comprising 2 women and a 16 year old boy who were connected to suspected terrorists’ food vendors earlier arrested."

NIS in Niger State deports 334 illegal immigrants

The Niger State Command of the Nigeria Immigration Service, NIS has deported 334 illegal immigrants from Niger Republic.

The Comptroller of NIS in Niger State, Mr. David Adi told newsmen at the 2016 General Annual Conference in Lafia, Nasarawa State capital on Friday that the illegal aliens were among 500 people who were arrested in parts of the state during recent raids by officers of the command.

“You can imagine someone coming into the country from Niger Republic with just a polythene bag without any real means of livelihood. When we apprehend these kinds of people we always deport them,” he said.

He called for the enactment of an enabling law to empower the NIS to prosecute illegal immigrants.

The elaborate burial ceremony of the late Mrs Charity Nwaulari Igbokwe, nee Ukadike was graced by many dignitaries including the Senator representing Okigwe North, Athan Nneji Achonu and the former Chief of Staff to the Government of Imo State, Chief Emma Ohakim.

Budget 2016: Obasanjo visits Buhari in Abuja

Photos released by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr Femi Adeshina this Thursday reveal that former President Olusegun Obasanjo is visiting President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

This is even as the details of the 2016 budget have been received  by the Chief of Staff to the President, Abba Kyari on behalf of President Buhari.
