Oliseh Expels Enyeama From Eagles Camp

Super Eagles captain and first choice keeper, Vincent Enyeama was on Tuesday, booted out of the team's camp in Belgium after falling out with Coach Sunday Oliseh and his technical crew.

The simmering problem between Super Eagles coach Sunday Oliseh and captain Vincent Enyeama reached boiling point on Tuesday when the goalkeeper was unceremoniously booted out of the team's hotel in Belgium.

Following the burial of his late mother on Saturday in Akwa Ibom, Enyeama had been permitted to report to camp after Monday's deadline.

According to sources close to the Super Eagles camp, Ahmed Musa has already been given the captain's arm band.

11 Chadian Troops, 17 Boko Haram Fighters Killed In Pre-dawn Fighting

A Chadian security source has said that Boko Haram terrorists attacked Chadian troops early Tuesday morning, killing 11 and injuring 13.

According to the source, in a firefight that lasted several hours, the troops gunned down 17 of the insurgents.

He said ;
“Boko Haram members attacked our positions at 4:30 am (0330 GMT) in Kaiga Ngouboua about two kilometres (about a mile) from the Nigerian border.”

“This surprise attack claimed the lives of 11 soldiers and wounded 13 (and) 17 Boko Haram fighters were killed.

“The attackers were pushed back and the army is continuing search operations in the zone.”

Since the beginning of the year, Chadian troops have been at the front lines of a regional military coalition against Boko Haram terrorists whose attacks have spread from northeast Nigeria to the neighboring countries of Cameroun, Niger and Chad.

Buhari Thanks UK, Switzerland For Roles In Recovering Looted Funds

President Muhammadu Buhari has thanked the British and Swiss governments for their support for his administration in its efforts to recover funds looted from the public treasury.

Buhari spoke at the Presidential Villa, Abuja while receiving the the new ambassadors of Britain and Switzerland who came to show their letters of credence.

In a statement released by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr Femi Adeshina, Buhari said that British, Swiss and other foreign anti graft agencies have helped his government a lot with relevant information and intelligence on public funds looted and converted to personal use by corrupt government officials.

He called for quicker investigations, prosecution and repatriation of public resources looted by corrupt public officers and their accomplices.

“Switzerland and Britain have been very helpful indeed in the recovery of our assets. But we must build on what we have started.

“It is also important to send a signal to the elite that it is no longer business as usual. I personally appreciate the efforts of Prime Minister David Cameron on this issue.

“He has honoured his commitments to us. He promised to support our government to build a strong and dynamic economy and he has been faithful to his words.”

Boko Haram Fighters Killed By Own Bomb In Niger

Three fighters of the Boko Haram sect met their end on Tuesday when a bomb they were conveying to Diffa in Niger's Far East region exploded, killing them instantly.

According to a source, the bomb exploded when they were about entering Bosso town where they planned to carry out an attack.

On Sunday, 10 people including four Boko Haram suicide bombers were killed in terrorist attacks on Diffa town.

Desist From Corrupt Practices, AIG Tells Policemen

Mr Ballah Nasarawa, Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 7 has warned officers in the zone to avoid tarnishing the image of the Force

He gave the warning on Tuesday during a working visit to the Federal Capital Territory Police Command, Abuja.

His words ;
“Things are changing in our country; the police cannot be left behind. If you want to continue on this job, you have to change your character."

While assuring that security would be beefed up at the various IDP centers in the zone, Nasarawa urged the officers to discharge their duties firmly and without fear of intimidation.

“You should not be intimidated, be firm in discharging your responsibilities.

“We have reviewed the situation in the IDPs camps; security arrangement will be beefed up in the FCT and its environs,” he said.

He also advised candidates intending to join the Police Force to refrain from approaching officers for help as recruitment into the force is strictly on merit.

He said ;
“On no account should anyone approach officers for assistance as the exercise will be based on merit. Do not involve yourselves in corrupt practices during the recruitment exercise."

Define Your Economic Policy Direction - British Expert Advises Buhari

A British financial expert, Mr Gerard Lyons, has advised the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari to come up with a clear economic policy direction to help international investors take investment decisions on Nigeria.

Mr Lyons gave the advice on Monday while delivering the keynote address at the African Pensions Summit in Abuja. He urged the government to invest
part of the nation’s almost N5 trillion pool of funds in infrastructure, especially energy, roads and rail lines.

He noted that the lack of clarity about the vision and  economic policy direction of the government was not good for the country.

Pointing out that a great vision is the strength of an economy, he said that the delay in appointing key government officials was a source of worry for international investors.
