Treasury Single Account Records Over 66% Compliance - FG

About 600 out of the 900 federal Ministries, Departments and Agencies, MDAs have so far complied with President Muhammadu Buhari's directive on Treasury Single Account, TSA.

The Federal Government had set September 15th as the deadline for all MDAs to comply with the new policy which seeks to eliminate corruption by ensuring that all monies belonging to Federal Government's institutions are kept in unified accounts under the Central Bank of Nigeria.

According to the Accountant General of the Federation, Alhaji Ahmed Idris, who gave an update on the exercise shortly after the month’s Federation Account Allocation Committee meeting,  the process was slow at the beginning owing to teething problems.

He said that in spite of initial challenges, the Federal Government has recorded a huge success with the exercise. He added that while 600 MDAs had fully complied with the directive, others are still at different stages of compliance.

He also said that contrary to stories making the rounds that some MDAs were exempted from the exercise, the Federal Government had not excluded any of its agencies from complying with the directive.

His words:
“The TSA is in place and there is a clear cut directive from the government that all MDAs without exception must comply.

“My office is working closely to enlist and enroll MDAs so that they can be able to access and utilize their resources. This policy is to make all MDAs to be effective and operational."
