Jos School Building Collapse Kills Four Pupils

A story building being used for Islamic teaching has collapsed in Bukuru, Jos killing four pupils and injuring five others.

The school identified as Abu Naib Islamic school is located at Gero Road, Bukuru, Jos South local government area of Plateau State.

The Coordinator, North Central Zone of the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, Alhaji Muhammad Abdulsalam confirmed the incident. He said ;
“So far four children have been confirmed dead while five others have sustained injuries and have been taken to the specialists hospital. Our men are still carrying out the rescue mission and by tomorrow (today) I will give you the details.”

Sources around the school said that the casually figures could  rise as rescue efforts were still ongoing

September 24 Is Sallah Day - Sultanate Council

The Sultanate Council has declared Thursday September 24 as Eid-el-Kabir, aka Sallah. The council also declared Tuesday September 15 as the first day of the Muslim month of Dhul-Hajj.

The information is contained in a statement released by the Secretary-General of Jamatu Nasril Islam, JNI, Dr Khalid Aliyu in Kaduna.

The Council urged the Muslim Faithful to disregard an earlier statement issued by the JNI.

Kano Govt Disburses N80.5 To Victims Of Bomb Blasts

The government of Kano State has disbursed N80.5m to families of victims of Boko Haram terror attacks in the state.

Gov Abdullahi Ganduje while giving the cheques to the beneficiaries at Government House, Kano on Sunday said,
“The donation today did not serve as a means of compensation, but to gather and pray for the souls of the victims.The amount disbursed today was also solely a support by the state government as a relief package for the families and victims of bomb blasts in the state."

The donation was giving to victims and families of those who died in bomb blasts at
Kano Central Mosque ,Kwari Market and a filling station at Hotoro Quarters.

Six Nigerians Among The Dead In Mecca Crane Collapse

The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria, NAHCON has confirmed the death of five Nigerians in last week's collapse of a construction crane on the Holy Ka'aba Mosque in Mecca, Saudi Arabia.

In a similar development, the spokesman of Kaduna State Task Force on Hajj, Alhaji Seidu Adamu said on Sunday that one of the state's pilgrims was among the 107 who died in the crane tragedy.

He identified the dead pilgrim as Alhaji Adamu Shuaibu Kargi of Kubau local government area.

Amirul-Hajj of Gombe State, Alhaji Abdullahi Mai-Kano had last week said that four female pilgrims from the state were missing after the Ka'aba Mosque tragedy.

Ministerial List : Utomi, Falana Screened?

Strong signals are emerging that the Department of State Services, DSS may have concluded the screening of some of the ministerial nominees that will constitue President Muhammadu Buhari's cabinet.

Among those reported to have already been screened are Femi Falana (SAN), Economist Prof Pat Utomi, former Osun State Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola,  former MD of Nigerian Breweries Festus Odimegwu, former Commissioner of Finance in Lagos Mr Wale Edun, Abubakar Malami (SAN),  ex Army Chief Lt.-Gen. Abdulrahman Dambazu (retd.); and former chief executive of the Federal Inland Revenue Service Mrs. Ifueko Omoigui-Okaru.

Sources disclosed that the screening involved background checks on the nominees' careers and possible records with anti-corruption and security agencies.

Buhari had during a media chat in Accra last Monday said that his ministers would be announced before the end of September.
