Jonathan's Ministers At The Heart Of Oil Theft - Buhari

Some former ministers and top officials in the Goodluck Jonathan administration may be heading to jail in the near future as President Muhammadu Buhari has disclosed that he has started collating documents which show that those officials were involved in oil theft.

The former ministers are alleged to have opened several foreign accounts for the purpose of laundering the proceeds of stolen oil. The President vowed to prosecute anybody indicted of oil theft and ensure the repatriation of the money from their fraudulent activities.

Speaking at a meeting with Nigerians in Diaspora at the Nigerian embassy in Washington DC, President Buhari said that documents at his disposal showed that "some former ministers were selling about one million barrels per day."

He vowed to recover the money made from such illegal sales.
"I assure you that we will trace and repatriate such money and use the documents to prosecute them. A lot of damage has been done to the integrity of Nigeria with individuals and institutions already compromised. "

Gay Marriage Is Repugnant To Our Culture - Buhari Tells USA

The presidency has disclosed that gay marriage was discussed in one of the meetings President Muhammadu Buhari attended during his 4 day official visit to the United States of America.

According to Femi Adeshina, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, the president rejected the idea point blank, telling his hosts that gay relationship was against Nigerian law and culture.

In a post on his Twitter handle, Adeshina wrote : "The issue of gay marriage came up here yesterday (Tuesday). PMB was point blank. Sodomy is against the law in Nigeria and abhorrent to our culture."

Jonathan's ex CSO Regains Freedom

Gordon Obua, Chief Security Officer to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan has been released by the Department of State Services. He spent six days in detention.

The former CSO regained his freedom on Tuesday night shortly after he addressed a press conference to dismiss
rumors of his death in custody.

There had been rumors that the DSS operative had died in custody, having taken ill a few days after his arrest.

Nigeria Needs N108b For Mathematics

The MD/CEO of the National Mathematical Center, Prof
Adewale Solarin has said that Nigeria needs 108 billion naira bailout to revive mathematics in the over 54000 primary schools in the country.

He called on the Federal Government to declare a four-year national emergency on mathematics and also appealed to the private sector to get involved. Prof Solarin spoke at the National Olympiads mathematics award ceremony for secondary schools in Nigeria.

Thirty-four-year-old Babatope Oguntoyinbo is critically ill. The young graduate has called on Nigerians to support him to seek medical treatment in India.Oguntoyinbo is down with a spinal cord injury that doctors saycould render his cognitive functions ineffective if he does not undergo an urgent surgical operation in the Asian country.According to his medical report, Oguntoyinbo has Case 2 level lumbar disc disease and the condition has led to his inability tocontrol his bowel and bladder.The disease, our correspondent gathered, also caused damage to his lumbar and spine.Mrs. Funke Olanipekun, who spoke on behalf of her ailing brother, said his health had so degenerated that he no longer walked or eased his bowel without assistance.Before the disease hit him, Olanipekun said her brother worked with a security firm in Lagos.She added, “Initially, he complained about knee pain in November and he went to the hospital for treatment. Though the pain occasionally resurfaced, it did not stop him from going to work at his office in Ajah, Lagos, till it got worse this February. Now, he is helpless because he cannot urinate or eat without assistance and support.”Olanipekun urged Nigerians and corporate organisations to support the cost of his treatment in an Indian hospital.“ We have only been able to raise N110,000 so far. Jonathan's CSO Alive And Healthy

Former Chief Security Officer to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, Mr Gordon Obua has dispelled rumors that he had died in DSS custody. Addressing a press conference at the DSS headquarters in Abuja, Mr Obua said he was alive and healthy and was being treated well by the DSS.

"This morning (Tuesday), my attention was drawn to reports that I had died in detention and this has caused serious anxiety within the country. I want to use this medium to thank Nigerians and members of my family who have expressed very serious concerns about my wellbeing in the last six days.

"I want to use this medium to tell Nigerians and members of my family that I am hale and hearty. So far, there is no adverse situation.

"As a serving officer of DSS and having completed my tour of duty as  Chief Security Officer to the last president, the service feels I should give account of my tenure.

Nigerians should be assured that the DSS is a very responsible organization and I am sure that nothing adverse will happen to me once it is ascertained that I did nothing wrong. "

Mr Obua did not take questions from journalists and was taken away by DSS operatives immediately after his speech.
